Central Station
Central Station Console
The Central Station web console displays all of your customer sites and the status of their respective networks. The Probe or Reporter collects and analyzes information from your customer's servers, workstations, applications, and other networked devices. It then sends the relevant information, using a secure Internet connection, to the Central Station.
The Central Station console displays this information based on status and alerts. With one quick snapshot, you can see the relevant network information from all your customers, or details on just one.
The Central Station console has the following features:
-
Color-coded status condition for quick visual assessment
Red - Critical Yellow - Warning Green - OK - The ability to drill-down to any site, device, or event for details and specifics
- Customizable views for administrators, technicians, and customers
Service and Business Groups
Service Groups provide you with the ability to sort any devices from any site into logical business groups.
Business Groups provides you with the ability to create innovative new service offerings where certain customer critical business functions require special attention to availability and performance.
Similar technologies can be grouped into "service groups" so that individual technical staff can receive alerts and respond to technical issues quickly and with full information across the entire customer base.
For example, all Exchange servers at any client sites can be included in one service group called "Exchange", and that service group can be assigned to a technician who is an Exchange server expert.
By a simple point-and-click process, all of the devices and services required to maintain a critical business function (such as sales order processing) can be aggregated into a "Business Group" for the customer. Business Service Grouping effectively replaces traditional "per device" billing models, creating new value-based revenue opportunities.
An intuitive point-and-click process allows for fast, easy, and standard deployment of service groups, device monitoring, and alerting rules using robust, tested configuration templates. Customizable templates for product and device monitoring allow you to quickly set up monitoring on specialized services such as Small Business Server, MS Exchange, and Cisco routers, and many more.
Central Station makes this configuration as simple and quick as possible – while setting up monitoring for a site with specialized services, you can simply add the necessary devices and the alerting rules with just a few clicks of the mouse.
24/7 Customer Site Monitoring
Using the on-site Probe or Reporter, the Central Station monitors all IP devices at a customer's site. The local Probe or Reporter sends alerts directly to the Central Station, which are then displayed on the Central Station console status screen for immediate attention and speedy resolution.
Monitoring setup is simple with an easy-to-use auto-discovery tools. Central Station allows for customized monitoring based on specific devices and applications, to meet your individual business requirements.
Using advanced SNMP and ICMP monitoring and alerting, Central Station can gather such data as device heartbeat, Windows event logs, custom event logs, server performance counters, and SNMP MIB information. These key performance indicators include all servers, workstations, and network devices in the environment.
Central Station can monitor network services including POP3, HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, Telnet, SMTP, DNS, NNTP, IMAP, LDAP, and custom TCP ports. Devices and network services can be monitored on any system, including UNIX®, Linux®, Solaris®, Windows®, etc.
The Probe or Reporter then filters and processes all data and sends this critical network health data - using a secure Internet connection - to the Central Station. This connection uses standard web access protocols for a one-way outbound communication, regardless of the connection at the end-customer's site, whether it's simple dial-up or broadband.
Alert Notification
The Probe or Reporter escalates alerts for events or failures to the Central Station, and to the appropriate technician.
These alerts appear on the Central Station console, and are color-coded for quick and easy visual assessment. The appropriate support person can be notified of the alert by any web or e-mail enabled device, cell phone, pager or at their desk or on the road.
Trouble Tickets
Central Station integrates with your existing trouble ticketing system. Why learn a new system when you already have one in place.
Install and Configure
The Probe and Reporter installs quickly and easily, and can be placed at the client site as a "plug-and-play" network appliance.
After installation, configuring the Probe or Reporter is easily achieved using the auto-discovery feature. You simply request the environment to be 'discovered', determined from the list of what your customer desires to monitor, and adjusts event filtering as required.
The Probe and Reporter appliance is installed at the customer site, and the Central Station appliance is installed at your site.
